Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.
Please join us for our Outdoor Volunteer Day from 9am to 12pm at Alta Vicente Reserve! We will be working to remove invasive weeds which degrade important wildlife habitat and will be replacing them with native, drought tolerant plants!
Please meet us at the Alta Vicente trailhead next to St Paul's Lutheran Church at 31290 Palos Verdes Dr W, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Please do not park in the church parking lot. Park on the street. Extra parking can be found in Golden Cove Shopping Center.
We will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. A reusable water bottle is recommended. Thank you for volunteering to conserve the Palos Verdes Peninsula!

Dear Neighborhood Leaders and Urban Foresters —
I am happy to share that new street trees are coming to Central Long Beach!
Up to 100 trees will be planted in the neighborhood bounded by:
Willow Street –- North
Hill Street –- South
Atlantic Avenue — East
Long Beach Boulevard -– West
SBCC Thrive LA’s Grupo Mariposas and East Los Angeles Women’s Center — Promontoras Contra la Violencia Domestica and Community Development YMCA of Greater Long Beach Bobby Smith Community Leadership Institute are all committed to help plant, water and care for these trees for their first year. They have chosen the theme “Unite the Neighborhood” and will use this tree planting as an opportunity to bring parents and neighbors together to get to know each other and help make the neighborhood a safer place for everyone.
Come help plant the trees!
