4700 Western Heritage Way

Join author and photographer Jeff Lapides for a presentation on the earliest photographs of the Desert West, taken by Rudolph D’Heureuse in 1863 on a grand journey from the shores of the Pacific Ocean to the banks of the Colorado River and the mines of Eldorado Canyon. Featuring forts, mines, canyons, American Indians, and soldiers, the images capture the Mojave Desert as it was experienced by travelers more than 150 years ago.
