If you are searching for a rewarding experience and love working with and for animals, we invite you to join the OC Animal Care volunteer team. Volunteer opportunities are available seven days a week.

	Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

	VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

	§ Dog Walker –
Volunteers walk and exercise shelter dogs that are available for adoption. Through exercise, dog walkers provide adoptable dogs' human contact, mental stimulation and basic command training.

	§ Cat Socializer –
Volunteers socialize available shelter cats. Through socializing, volunteers improve the quality of their lives and better prepare them for adoption into loving homes.

	§ Greeter –
Volunteers greet and offer assistance to the public at OC Animal Care's front gate. Greeters are a visitor's first contact with the shelter and through their warm greeting and courtesy may influence a person's decision to adopt from OC Animal Care.

	§ Mobile Adoption/Special Events –
Volunteers assist staff in educating citizens about the services provided by OC Animal Care at local fairs, festivals and mobile adoption events.

	§ Clerical Support –
Volunteers assist customer services staff by preparing adoption packets that offer insightful information to ease the transition of an adopted pet into a new environment.

	§ Bather/Groomer –
Volunteers bathe and groom shelter dogs to create quality bonding time between themselves and the dogs and increase a dog's adoptability.

	§ Foster Caretaker –
Volunteers provide temporary care to young, injured, abused or under-socialized animals. Volunteers return their foster animals when they are deemed suitable for adoption by OC Animal Care clinic staff. The volunteer is responsible for all expenses incurred while fostering.

	VOLUNTEER SELECTION

	OC Animal Care requires that all potential volunteers go through an extensive selection process. This process ensures that OC Animal Care is selecting volunteers that best fit the needs of the program and understand the unique environment in which they will work. The selection process may take up to two months. Please note that applicants will be selected based on the current needs of OC Animal Care.

	Time Commitment
OC Animal Care requests that you commit to a minimum of eight hours per month for three months. This commitment ensures that the program will operate smoothly and that the maximum benefit is derived for the animals.

	Training
OC Animal Care staff provide training to all volunteers. Volunteers are required to complete the training for each position in which they are selected to serve.
</text>
<dtstart><date>2023-03-11</date></dtstart><dtend><date>2023-03-12</date></dtend><rrule><freq>WEEKLY</freq><interval>2</interval><byday>SU</byday><byday>TU</byday><byday>SA</byday><wkst>SU</wkst></rrule><categories><parameters>
<text>en-US</text>
</parameters><text>Ongoing Volunteer Opportunity</text></categories><contact><text>http://www.ocpetinfo.com/involve/volunteer</text></contact><geo><latitude>+33.780587</latitude><longitude>-117.888555</longitude></geo><location><text>OC Animal Care @ 561 The City Dr S, Orange, CA 92868, USA</text></location><sequence><integer>0</integer></sequence>
<x-cost-type><unknown>free</unknown></x-cost-type><x-wp-images-url><unknown>thumbnail;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/d3bac4f0-4e66-4870-80fe-8ad8b6c55638-200x150.jpg;200;150,medium;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/d3bac4f0-4e66-4870-80fe-8ad8b6c55638-200x150.jpg;200;150,large;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/d3bac4f0-4e66-4870-80fe-8ad8b6c55638-200x150.jpg;200;150,full;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/d3bac4f0-4e66-4870-80fe-8ad8b6c55638-200x150.jpg;200;150</unknown></x-wp-images-url><x-tags><parameters>
<text>en-US</text>
</parameters><unknown>Animals,volunteer</unknown></x-tags></properties></vevent><vevent><properties><uid><text>ai1ec-14921@calendar.bigsunday.org</text></uid><dtstamp><date-time>2026-03-08T17:41:40Z</date-time></dtstamp>
<text>Local Transportation for Seniors</text>

<text>

	Transportation is our number one service requested, given that many of our members can no longer drive. Getting out and about is a necessary and integral part of maintaining a healthy, happy life. These local trips often take less than 30 minutes and volunteers can choose to do just one-way if not both ways.

	Daytime Drivers – Volunteers are needed throughout the week to drive members to/from medical appointments, social events, beauty shop/barber, the grocery store, and assist with other general errands.

	A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained, dedicated and caring community volunteer, who is assigned to work one-on-one with a child in the foster care system. CASAs are sworn in by a dependency court judge to advocate for what is in the child’s best interest. With legal standing to fully investigate a child’s circumstances, CASAs make recommendations to the court regarding how the system and community can best serve and support the child. Our volunteers have the ability to broadly influence the life of a foster child by advocating across many important life issues, including permanent placement, health care, education, mental health and enrichment activities.

	We are always happy to have people interested in volunteering!

	We have a short orientation every Saturday morning at 8:45am in Shadow Hills. (Rain will normally cancel and we are closed for major 3-day holiday weekends.)

	Volunteers must be at least 12 to volunteer. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany you to sign some paperwork. Closed-toe shoes (should be comfortable because there is a lot of walking), a shirt with sleeves (T-shirts are fine; No tank tops) and long pants are required. If planning to stay for the entire day (till approx. 2 – 2:30pm) then bringing water and a sack lunch/snack is recommended. Other days and times available for volunteering will be given at the orientation.

	We normally have volunteers assist the instructor with the children and horses, which includes, leading horses and spotting, which is walking alongside the horse to ensure child’s safety and position changes on the horse. Other activities might include: grooming horses, cleaning tack, gardening (raking, weeding, etc.), mailings, etc.
</text>
<dtstart><parameters><tzid><text>America/Los_Angeles</text></tzid></parameters><date-time>2023-03-11T08:45:00</date-time></dtstart><dtend><parameters><tzid><text>America/Los_Angeles</text></tzid></parameters><date-time>2023-03-11T14:30:00</date-time></dtend><rrule><freq>WEEKLY</freq><byday>SA</byday><wkst>SU</wkst></rrule><categories><parameters>
<text>en-US</text>
</parameters><text>Ongoing Volunteer Opportunity</text></categories><contact><text>Volunteer Coordinator; (818) 767 - 6373 ; www.AWHLA.org</text></contact><geo><latitude>+34.255146</latitude><longitude>-118.344981</longitude></geo><location><text>10157 Johanna Ave, Shadow Hills, CA 91040, USA</text></location><sequence><integer>0</integer></sequence>
<x-cost-type><unknown>free</unknown></x-cost-type><x-wp-images-url><unknown>thumbnail;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Ahead-with-Horses-Logo-New1-163x150.png;163;150,medium;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Ahead-with-Horses-Logo-New1-163x150.png;163;150,large;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Ahead-with-Horses-Logo-New1-163x150.png;163;150,full;https://calendar.bigsunday.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Ahead-with-Horses-Logo-New1-163x150.png;163;150</unknown></x-wp-images-url><x-tags><parameters>
<text>en-US</text>
</parameters><unknown>Community Service,volunteer,Volunteer Group</unknown></x-tags></properties></vevent><vevent><properties><uid><text>ai1ec-14832@calendar.bigsunday.org</text></uid><dtstamp><date-time>2026-03-08T17:41:40Z</date-time></dtstamp>
<text>Peace 4 Kids</text>

<text>

	HOW YOU CAN VOLUNTEER AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE

	EVERY CHILD DESERVES A CONNECTION

	Each year, our volunteers contribute 5000+ hours, accounting for almost 80% of our services. If you're interested in promoting peace in the lives of foster youth, join our community and bring your knowledge and compassion to those who will truly benefit. It's a truly rewarding experience!

	Primarily our volunteers connect with youth on Saturdays from 9am – 1pm in an environment that focuses on creativity, education, life skills building, health and wellness. Under the guidance of our staff, volunteers are given the tools to work one-to-one with youth, developing strong bonds that leave a lasting impression.

	HERE'S A QUICK REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST:

 Be at least 18 years of age

 Contribute at least 8 hours a month [2 Saturdays per month] and commit to a minimum of one year of service

 Obtain Department of Justice clearance

 Attend both a new volunteer orientation and training

	And here's some of the things you'll be doing:

 Engage, mentor and provide leadership for youth in foster care, ages 4-18 years old

 Support our educational team in facilitating creative learning onsite and on field trips

 Create a consistent, nurturing community based environment

 Have fun making new friends with like-minded folks!

	Second Chances Leadership Program was designed to build and develop the self-confidence, life and leadership skills of youth through interactive learning, in-class discussions, presentations, panels, workshops, and exploratory field-trips. Upon conclusion, participants will be able to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of a leader’s core essentials through a service learning project, weekly homework and journaling assignments, discussions, presentations, and a culmination project.

	Our youth will become ‘Ambassadors’ allowing them to become well versed in the theoretical and practical application of a leader’s core essentials and be capable of utilizing them within their home, school, and community. This allows them to personally develop through leadership programs and have access to tools and resources that not only helps such youth to apply to college, but also prepares them to succeed in life.

	The Leadership Program consists of 5 modules that are 8 weeks in length. The modules expands our youth knowledge base by providing significant exposure to real-life work experiences, hands-on activities that challenge their decision making process, and intense cross-cultural volunteer projects both locally and abroad.
</text>
<dtstart><parameters><tzid><text>America/Los_Angeles</text></tzid></parameters><date-time>2023-03-11T10:00:00</date-time></dtstart><dtend><parameters><tzid><text>America/Los_Angeles</text></tzid></parameters><date-time>2023-03-11T14:00:00</date-time></dtend><rrule><freq>WEEKLY</freq><byday>SA</byday><wkst>SU</wkst></rrule><categories><parameters>
<text>en-US</text>
</parameters><text>Ongoing Volunteer Opportunity</text></categories><contact><text>213.627.1745; info@ffscinc.org</text></contact><location><text>USC Social Sciences Building, RM B52</text></location><sequence><integer>0</integer></sequence>
<x-cost-type><unknown>free</unknown></x-cost-type><x-tags><parameters>
<text>en-US</text>
</parameters><unknown>Education,volunteer,Youth,Youth Mentoring</unknown></x-tags></properties></vevent><vevent><properties><uid><text>ai1ec-14309@calendar.bigsunday.org</text></uid><dtstamp><date-time>2026-03-08T17:41:40Z</date-time></dtstamp>
<text>One Generation Farmers Market Volunteer</text>

<text>

Quick Overview: We are working to fight hunger and food waste in Southern California, and we'd love to have you join us.

Mission or Broader Program Description: Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people in need, and inspiring others to do the same.

Wear comfortable work clothing and close-toed shoes, and bring water to drink.

	STUDIO VOLUNTEERISM

	Studio volunteers work alongside teaching artists to support K-12 students as they explore their own creativity in one of our seven studios: Visual Arts, Ceramics, Creativity Lab, Media Arts, Drama, Dance, and Music. Studio volunteerism requires a once-per-week, two-hour commitment for the duration of a session: 3 – 10 weeks total, depending on the program. In order to be eligible for studio volunteerism, you must participate in a one-on-one interview and orientation. Additionally, all studio volunteers are required to sign a background check consent prior to serving in the studios with students.

	LEARNING AND ACHIEVING THROUGH THE ARTS (LATA) serves elementary and middle school students from the Los Angeles Unified School District and local charter schools. Twice a week, for seven- or eight-week sessions, students and their classroom teachers are brought to the Inner-City Arts campus for experiential instruction in the visual and performing arts during the school day. LATA studio volunteers support by assisting teaching artists with studio set-up and transitions, motivating students to engage in the creative process, and sometimes participating in projects and exercises alongside students. LATA studio volunteers support periods 1 -3 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and periods 1-2 on Tuesday and Thursday in the following volunteer shifts:

	Period 1: 8:30 am – 10:30 am

	Period 2:10:15 am – 12:15 pm

	Period 3: 12:15 pm – 2:15 pm

	THE VISUAL, MEDIA AND PERFORMING ARTS INSTITUTES offer self-select, after-school and weekend workshops to middle and high school students, once weekly across ten weeks during Fall and Spring sessions and twice weekly across five weeks over summer. Institutes volunteers support teaching artists and students by lending their expertise in a specific medium and assisting teaching artists with studio set-up and transitions. Volunteer shifts vary from workshop to workshop.

	ARTISTS IN THE MIDDLE (AIM) is Inner-City Arts' summer programming for incoming 6th – 8th grade students, during which students have the opportunity to hone their skills in four different art forms during one of two three-week sessions. AIM studio volunteers support by assisting teaching artists with studio set-up and transitions, motivating students to engage in the creative process, and sometimes participating in projects and exercises alongside students. AIM studio volunteers support periods 1 -2 Monday – Friday in the following volunteer shifts:

	Period 1: 8:30 am – 10:30 am
