Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Smallfoot roars into Harkins Cerritos 16, just a little more softly; the sensory-friendly screening is appropriate for guests affected by autism and sensory processing disorders.
One Saturday each month, select Harkins locations present a family-friendly film in an auditorium dedicated to guests affected by autism and sensory processing disorders.These screenings feature:

- Reduced Sound Volume
- Room For Guest Interaction
- Outside Snacks Permitted

Vroman's favorite storytime guy, Mr. Steve, shares books with little ones every Wednesday and Saturday morning in the kids' section of the store.

Hearing aids aren’t the only solution! Come see and try a variety of devices that help enhance the quality of life for the hard of hearing. HAT (Hearing Assistive Technology) Demo is offered at the Hearing Loss Association of America Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter on Saturday, November 9, 10:30 a.m.to 12 Noon at the Weingart Center, 5220 Oliva Ave., Lakewood, CA 90712, 562-630-6141. Every Sunday volunteers sign in at 7am and out at 1pm to help greet at the entrance gates and offer information about ONEgeneration services, help at the Bagel or Book booths, or assist a Farmers or small business for the day. This event is a walk in position so you can come any Sunday that you are available from 7am to 1pm, no partial shifts.
When volunteers sign out at 1pm they will receive a completion letter for their hours if needed.

100% of the proceeds from all ONEgeneration booths and entrance gates support the programs we offer the community.
Audubon California’s 4000-acre Starr Ranch Sanctuary in southeast Orange County is pleased to invite you to join them as a volunteer "Weed Warrior." Weeds can alter habitats and have negative effects on wildlife. Volunteers help remove smilo grass, periwinkle, English ivy, and English plantain using non-chemical methods.
No experience necessary. Training and tools provided. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, long pants, closed-toe shoes and layers for changing weather. Bring snacks and a picnic lunch, if you wish. A personal water bottle, a hat and sunscreen are strongly recommended.
Adults and children ages 8 and older are welcome. Children under 13 must be accompanied by adults. Service at Starr Ranch fulfills community service requirements. Take a leisurely walk in Belmont Heights to visit four homes filled with art by local artists!
Most art is for sale and just in time for the holidays!
Use our map to learn about historic events, street names and interesting architecture.
(maps are available at each home & via email ahead of time)
The stroll is 3/4 of a mile, self-guided and can be walked in any order at your own pace.
