Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Please join us in our volunteer day at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank! Volunteers are needed to help sort, inspect, and repackage donated food items from local food drives. Help us help those in need by donating your time to fight hunger in our community.
**Once you register you will receive an email confirmation with all the logistics and forms.
***All volunteers must wear closed toed shoes***
***Minimum age requirement to volunteer is 14 (sorry, no exceptions)**
Join us for TM@10 (Thursday Mornings at 10) at Big Sunday headquarters where we’ll host a different service project each week that benefits a worthy cause! Enjoy good food, good company and good deeds; everyone is welcome. Some of the groups we’re helping include My Friend’s Place, Covenant House, and lots of shelters, hospitals, and senior facilities around all over town. Volunteers are needed to help distribute food for those in need in our community. The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables.Help us help those in need!
These kits go to an average of 28,000 seniors every month at 146 sites throughout Los Angeles County. In 2018, the Food Bank distributed 325,043 Senior Nutrition food kits through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). We are proud to facilitate the largest CSFP in the country and eternally grateful for the dedicated volunteers who make this work possible!
The following are the minimum requirements:
- Be able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Participate the entire shift
Please abide by the following rules:
- Do not solicit clients
- Follow directions from staff at all times

Up to 100 trees will be planted in the neighborhood bounded by:
North – Conant Street
South – Monlaco Road
West – Palo Verde Avenue
East – Woodruff Avenue
The 90808 Tree Planting Association and Patrick Henry Elementary School are committed to help plant, water and care for these trees for their first year.
Would your group like to be a volunteer partner for this event?
Volunteers of all ages are welcome at this event to help plant and water these young trees. No experience is needed, we will train you.
