We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Make the Connection — VA’s leading national mental health awareness campaign — is coming to LA to film Veterans and their families to participate in a national campaign to help Veterans manage mental health challenges that affect their well-being and their daily lives. They can join more than 500 Veterans and family members who have participated in the Make the Connection campaign to spread the word about mental health and encourage Veterans to reach out for support.
Who: Any Veteran — of any age or branch of service (including National Guard and Reserve) — with or without his or her family
When: Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, for approximately two hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
What: On-camera, professionally filmed interview to talk about experiences with mental health challenges and recovery

All Peoples will be holding our 21st Annual Health, Resource and Book Fair. This year our Theme is "Health, Wealth, & Happiness" and will feature over 50 Agency Booths to provide free resources and screenings for flu shots, diabetes, cholesterol, mammograms, blood pressure, HIV, vision, dental, and other health related issues.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are still needed the day of the event!
There are 2 shifts available:
9:00 am – 12:00 pm
12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
*There will also be a Volunteer meeting the day before the event.
Please join us for our Outdoor Volunteer Day from 9am to 12pm at Alta Vicente Reserve! We will be working to remove invasive weeds which degrade important wildlife habitat and will be replacing them with native, drought tolerant plants!
Please meet us at the Alta Vicente trailhead next to St Paul's Lutheran Church at 31290 Palos Verdes Dr W, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Please do not park in the church parking lot. Park on the street. Extra parking can be found in Golden Cove Shopping Center.
We will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. A reusable water bottle is recommended. Thank you for volunteering to conserve the Palos Verdes Peninsula!
Clear your calendar – It's going down!
We’re on a mission to bring STEAM to communities nationwide with the STEAM Carnival (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). The goal of the event is to inspire more creative thinkers, and doers, through playful, meaningful, immersive experiences. STEAM Carnival champions the mindset that these multiple disciplines are seamlessly integrated into how people live, work, and play today.
The Hawthorne STEAM Carnival kicks off on May 19th, and you're invited to take part in the festivities. Come one, come all, bring a guest, and hang loose. This is going to be epic!
It's FIESTA time again! Join us for our annual food and craft fair held at 24th Street! This year's Fiesta will feature a composting petting zoo, a garden scavenger hunt, and a craft corner where you and yours can make upcycled planters, lavender bundles, and so much more!

Thanks to our great volunteer support, our Non-Profit, LINC Housing, is able to provide affordable housing communities along with life-enhancing supportive services for low-income families. LINC Housing is always looking for ways to engage residents and provide opportunities for interaction. At our Mosaic Gardens at Willowbrook property, we are looking to have a Community Engagement BBQ Day for residents. The support of our volunteers will be impactful to our goal of having resident engagement and a successful BBQ!
Volunteer Opportunity Description:
LINC Housing is looking for a corporate group or volunteer group of 2-3 volunteers that will help with:
- Set-up and clean-up of the event
- Cooking and serving food to residents
- Assist with engagement activities
- Other event duties assigned by supervisor

Food and drinks will be provided for volunteers! This will be a great opportunity to give back to your community and support our residents at LINC Housing!
The 19th annual Bruin Run Walk will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018! Join us for a terrific morning as friends from UCLA and our community run with a purpose in support of the Chase Child Life program. Teams in recognition of some of our fiercest fighters at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital come together with staff, students, and community partners on a 5K journey around the beautiful UCLA campus. You can participate by sponsoring a child, registering for the race, or creating a team with friends and family. This 5K event boasts fun, games, crafts, and cheer for everyone involved.
Our walk/5k/10k race is raising awareness and needed funds for the children who will be treated at the new state of the art facility, Shriners for Children Medical Center that recently opened in September 2017 in Pasadena California. This location replaced our old Los Angeles location. The care and treatment they provide is life changing.
The race is Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. We are hoping to have 1000+ participants this year.

Volunteer Tasks:
- Set up the community room/ tables with ornaments
- Prepare/ set up tea/ drinks/ food
- Greet residents
- Help serve food plates and drinks to residents
- Do carnation corsages for attendees
