Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar

We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.

Susan G. Komen's 2020 More Than Pink Walk @ Dodger Stadium

Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County will hold its 23rd annual event at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, February 29, its MORE THAN PINK Walk™.

Known for raising significant monies to help those with breast health issues in Los Angeles County, the affiliate does so with many activities, the Expo, Hope Village, for survivors and those living with breast cancer, Reflection Tent, and Team Zone in addition to the fun MORE THAN PINK Walk™ itself. There's something everyone will enjoy.

Sponsored by AutoNation, Spiritual Gangster, The Citadel and CBS-2/KCAL-9, 2020’s event is expected to significantly surpass 2019’s attendance of 6,000, nearly 400 survivors in attendance, and over 900 members on the largest corporate team.

Through events like the Los Angeles County MORE THAN PINK Walk™, Komen Los Angeles County invests 75 percent of the funds raised to support vital local breast health services and dedicates the remaining 25 percent to national research to find the cures.

Wild Honey Foundation Presents: WILD HONEY ORCHESTRA CELEBRATES THE LOVIN’ SPOONFUL TO BENEFIT THE AUTISM THINK TANK @ Alex Theater
Feb 29 @ 8:00 pm – 11:30 pm

The Wild Honey Orchestra celebrates the music of Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Famers the Lovin’ Spoonful as a fundraiser for the Autism Think Tank. Led by acclaimed musical director Rob Laufer, Wild Honey Orchestra & Friends (guest singers TBA) will present a comprehensive exploration of the ground-breaking catalog of one of the 1960s’ most underrated but influential bands in the folk-rock-country (Americana) world. The Wild Honey Orchestra will passionately celebrate every musical nuance of over 30 of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s brilliant songs: ‘Do You Believe in Magic,’ ‘Summer in the City,’ ‘Six O’Clock,’ ‘Coconut Grove,’ ‘Daydream,’ ‘Darling Be Home Soon,’ ‘She’s Still a Mystery,’ and so many more. Beloved by their peers – the Beatles, the Kinks, and many more – the Spoonful’s rich and varied catalog of hits and hidden treasures is a perfect fit for the Wild Honey Orchestra and Friends, including Elliot Easton of the Cars and Dennis Diken of the Smithereens. The show will benefit the Autism Think Tank’s effort to help individuals with autism and their families.

The Hollywood Hike to End Homelessness @ Griffith Park, Boy Scout Trail
Mar 21 @ 8:00 am

Now that you’ve participated in the 2020 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, take the next step in helping address the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles County by joining the 3rd Annual Hollywood Hike to End Homelessness.

60,000 of our neighbors fall asleep unsheltered, alone, and isolated every single night in Los Angeles County. For many of our neighbors, challenges are layered. Mental and physical challenges, a fundamental lack of resources, and the social stigma of homelessness create an environment of indescribable loneliness, trauma, and pain many of us cannot begin to comprehend.

For the better part of a decade, The Center has provided a holistic and trauma-informed approach to ending isolation and homelessness. Offering unique Wellness, Health, Outreach & Housing, and Community Support Programs, they work every day to break down barriers to entry for our homeless neighbors. By doing so, we help build a path toward wellness and housing.

On March 21st, they will host the 3rd Annual Hike to End Homelessness to raise vital funds for The Center’s Community Wellness Program that serves thousands of vulnerable individuals living unhoused on the streets in our neighborhood. With these resources, together, they will give their participants access to community programming and connections to healthcare, mental healthcare, and housing.

This unique event is anything but the typical fundraising experience. Bringing together hundreds of Angelenos hiking in solidarity, this hike is a powerful display of our commitment toward ending homelessness in our community.
