Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Join us for TM@10 at Big Sunday headquarters where we’ll host a different service project each week that benefits a worthy cause! Enjoy good food, good company and good deeds; everyone is welcome. Some of the groups we’re helping include Aviva Center, My Friend’s Place, Heal the Bay and lots of shelters, hospitals and senior facilities around all over town. Join ChildHelp Community Resource and Training Center for their free parenting classes. Classes are held in English from 1 – 3 pm and in Spanish from 3 – 5 pm. Our pals at Free Arts for Abused Children are in need of 1 – 2 happy, helpful volunteers to assist with the clean-up and organization of their new office on October 29 from 4 – 6 pm. Volunteers must wear something comfortable since they’ll be doing some light lifting of boxes/office supplies, etc. Appropriate attire includes closed toe shoes (example: flats or sneakers) and casual wear (example: t-shirt and jeans). Volunteers may bring food/snacks/water/non-alcoholic beverages, etc.
Volunteer Criteria
- Listen to instructions from the Free Arts Staff Member
- Be able to stay the full 2 hours

Lift boxes 20-30lbs (just off the shelf)
- Open boxes
- Organize office supplies
- Be respectful and kind

Paseo del Rey Elementary School is hosting its annual Fall Festival for students on October 30 and they need the help of some happy, helpful volunteers to make it all come together perfectly. The special event will include food, costumes, arts & crafts and games for the children and they’ll need volunteers to assist the kids in playing simple, fun games during the Festival

Join Food Forward at the Hollywood Farmers Market this Sunday! Our volunteers collect donations of fresh produce from farmers and help box, carry, sort, and weigh the produce. We donate 100% to local food banks, pantries, and service agencies.

Starting with a warm up stroll, Candyce Columbus, RYT, provides a gentle, stimulating and rejuvenating all-levels traditional hatha yoga practice, enhanced by the idyllic Arboretum. Bring a blanket or towel, your yoga mat and water to sip.
Please meet PROMPTLY 15 minutes before the class in front of Main Entrance, outside of the Membership and programs office.

Candyce Columbus, 200-hour E-RYT
Yoga practice has been an integral part of Candyce’s life and well-being for more than 20 years. Since 2009 she has been sharing the knowledge passed on to her from many wonderful teachers. Regardless of fitness or flexibility she believes everyone can benefit from yoga. Her classes are well-balanced, varied, informative and enjoyable. She is dedicated to her students and to helping them lead active, healthy lives.
