Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.
This summer, join Big Sunday for our summer Community Clean-ups as we take to the streets of Los Angeles to improve the overall look of several neighborhoods. Roll up your sleeves and lend a helping hand in blight/trash removal throughout local communities (all materials are provided)! To RSVP for upcoming Community Clean-up events, please contact davidmcb@bigsunday.org.

Join us for Big Sunday’s 3rd Annual Books n’ Brunch fall book collection. By special request, we’re collecting all kinds of new and gently used books for all kinds of grateful nonprofits. Help us sort and box the books, then stick around as we all enjoy a delicious and friendly brunch! For more info or to sign up to help, please click HERE.
In our opinion, Big Sunday’s harbor cruises are awesome. We host underserved, deserving folks on a special cruise through San Pedro Harbor and often many of our guests have never been on a boat before! We’d love volunteers to join us as hosts with an easy assignment — be friendly, hand out donuts, enjoy one another and enjoy the ride. This excursion is part of Big Sunday’s “We’re All in the Same Boat” project in which everyone is encouraged to meet at least one new person. Each cruise leaves at 10 am and returns at 12 pm and all cruises are always free. For more info or to sign up, contact beenish@bigsunday.org.
Join us for our 7th Annual Spooky Sunday as we host a number of local nonprofits and their families for our Annual Halloween Bash!
This is one of our most fun events of the year and you do not want to miss it! The festivities will include a costume givea
way, a portrait studio, our very scary haunted house, trunk-or-treating, tons of arts & crafts, way too much candy and lots more. (Don’t forget to wear your costume!)
For more info or to sign up today, please click HERE.
Each year we collect and pack big bags full of Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of people, including veterans, homeless families, women in domestic violence shelters, group homes, low-income families, at-risk children, food pantries, schools and more. This year will be even bigger! We need volunteers to donate food and pack up all the Thanksgiving goodies. To RSVP, please click HERE.
Brighten up the holidays for our vets! Join us as we decorate three enormous buildings at the VA in Westwood. This is a wonderful annual tradition and the kick-off for nearly 20 different Big Sunday holiday decorating events. All ages welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Groups are also welcome. Contact beenish@bigsunday.org to volunteer or for the full decorating schedule and address details. This is just the first of more than a dozen holiday decorating events!

There are lots of talented musicians in the Big Sunday community who have helped Big Sunday projects in all kinds of important ways. For the first time, Big Sunday is hosting a special night of music featuring a few of these musicians including: George Hill (New Directions Veteran Choir); The Hollywood Forever Bluegrass Band (Mark Drop, "Utah Bob" Rosenfield, Maddie Eaton, Ulrich Sinn and Brian Mastalski); Michelle Mayne-Graves (also from the New Directions Veteran Choir); Rob Seals & Co.; Sophie Strauss and, alas, David Levinson. Event admission is free; ages 21 and up; beer and wine will be served. Please RSVP to beenish@bigsunday.org. Donations of new pairs of socks are greatly appreciated and will benefit Big Sunday veteran Adam B.’s sock drive for the homeless.

Each year people from all walks of life join us to eat, sing (with a live band!) and enjoy the holidays. As always, our guests of honor are the incredible kids from Ability First and the amazing folks from Sunset Hall. We’re also hosting other friends with struggles large and small.
Volunteers are needed to spread some holiday cheer to our invited guests. There will be singing (good singing not necessary — trust us) (and no, you don’t have to sing if you don’t want to). We’ll deck the halls and light a menorah, too. Of course, there will be loads of arts & crafts and delicious holiday treats. We’ll also be collecting toys for kids, winter coats for kids and adults and non-perishable food items for our End of the Month Club. To sign up today, click HERE!
You don’t have to be Jewish to join Big Sunday as we host a holiday sing-a-long for and with seniors in Beverly Hills for an early Hanukkah celebration. Mix and mingle, sing and schmooze, while bringing a bit of festivity and joy to some lively, friendly and fun-loving seniors. This year we’ll be going to the Beverly Carmel North on Burton Way. (Last year we went to the Beverly
Carmel South. For those who were there, you’ll remember that it was unforgettable.) All ages are welcome. Please RSVP to beenish@bigsunday.org for more info and address details.
Don’t miss our fun weekly community service event, TM@10 (Thursday Mornings at 10), where we’ll be creating birthday gift packages for youngsters at the Exceptional Children’s Foundation. Pitch in and make a new friend! If you’d like to join us, please RSVP to rob@bigsunday.org.
