Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.
Help prepare for a free Thanksgiving dinner for community neighbors in need. They'll need help setting up and decorating the Parish Hall, serving meals, busing tables, and cleaning up. No cooking involved. About 100 meals are served (nice, restaurant style); all leftovers are boxed up as take-out suppers.
Each year, this event serves a dual purpose as a special holiday treat for 1,000 of Venice Family Clinic's low-income and homeless pediatric patients as well as a fundraiser that earns over $100,000 for VFC’s pediatric medicine program. Volunteers are needed in the weeks leading up to the holiday event to help organize and package the toys and books that will be distributed to the children and families during the event. Some heavy to light lifting is required. Groups of 6 – 10 people per shift are ideal; shift times are 9 am – 1 pm and/or 1 – 4 pm. VFC would love to have any group ages 14 years+ and they’d happily address any questions you might have in the meantime. Clubs and individuals can learn more and apply at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19x1IqklADeguAjYD3MMmQcMYRzjalinho-EeTl3aZcM/viewform. Visit http://www.venicefamilyclinic.org for more info.

The Garden School Foundation's workdays are a huge part of the work they do. Once a month, volunteers and community partners come together at their 24th Street school garden (2055 W 24th Street) to have some fun in the sun, enjoy delicious, garden-fresh snacks, and get vital work done that keeps their living classrooms beautiful for the kids they serve. They also have a cooking or gardening workshop during each of their workdays, where volunteers can learn & get inspired about food, from seed to table! Join GSF on Dec. 12! Please contact Shelby Crowell for more info.
