Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.

Welcome Home
“Home” means so much to so many. It’s a place where we feel safe… where we can be ourselves… where we can be with our friends, family, and loved ones. Most of all, home is where a community comes together. Home is where the heart is.
t A Place Called Home, caring staff, supporters and volunteers come together to provide South Central children and teens 8 years old – 21 years old with love, safety, enrichment, training, and opportunities through educational programs, counseling, and mentorship. After-school, weekend, and all-day summer programs and services include tutoring and homework support, as well as a full spectrum of instruction in the arts, athletics, dance and music. Our high school dropout recovery partnership with LAUSD is open in the mornings and we provide year-round support for college preparation, SAT tutoring, and college counseling and scholarships. In 2012 we provided support for 68 first-generation college students in local schools and across the country

We’re on a mission to bring STEAM to communities nationwide with the STEAM Carnival (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). The goal of the event is to inspire more creative thinkers, and doers, through playful, meaningful, immersive experiences. STEAM Carnival champions the mindset that these multiple disciplines are seamlessly integrated into how people live, work, and play today.
The Hawthorne STEAM Carnival kicks off on May 19th, and you're invited to take part in the festivities. Come one, come all, bring a guest, and hang loose. This is going to be epic!
