We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer death for men and women combined, but it is preventable, treatable and beatable if caught at an early stage. During CRC Awareness Month in March, the American Cancer Society is training volunteers to go out and speak in the community about the importance of screening, risk factors, and ACS's 80% By 2018 initiative to increase screening rates to reduce incidence and mortality rates. No medical background is necessary and volunteers will receive a PowerPoint presentation and samples of materials that are available for speakers to distribute. Examples of speaking opportunities are: community health fairs, service club meetings, church groups, senior centers, etc. If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please join ACS and learn more about how you can get involved! The Sun Sand Sea event is an intriguing blend of vintage and modern art joining two art mediums: photography and painting. It’s a truly unique experience.
At its core, it is an exclusive photographic collection featuring the beaches, events and people of Santa Monica and Venice, circa 1920-1950. Curator, Branded Arts, has brought the event to a new level by commissioning cutting-edge artist, Hueman, to not only exhibit new paintings, but paint an onsite interpretive mural.
Look for Sun Sand Sea at Santa Monica Place from June 3-July 3.
Event proceeds benefit P.S. ARTS, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing high-quality arts education to California's underserved public schools and communities.

Just in time for holiday shopping, the Autry Store presents a show and sale of handmade pottery, rugs, and clothing. Master carver Jacobo Angeles Ojeda will showcase his intricate carving and painting techniques. His work will be available for purchase along with a diverse selection of Oaxacan pieces from other artists, including whimsical carvings and embroidered dresses, scarves, and shirts. Robert Angeles will present his handmade clothing alongside Zapotec rugs and Jorge Quintana's Mata Ortiz pottery.
