Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.
Join us for Big Sunday’s 2nd Annual Get-Ready–For-Summer Cookout & Movie Night! We’ll be packing bags full of beach stuff for many needy youth organizations followed by a cookout and a special screening of Heavyweights. Our pals from Movies at Night are back again for another big screen experience, donating the big screen and popcorn. Our friends from Salt & Straw are also back with an ice cream truck for everyone to enjoy!
To participate, please click HERE.
Please help us by bringing at least one new beach towel to put in one of our summer bags. Want to bring more? Great, thanks! Just let us know when you sign up.
Help Big Sunday send kids back to school in style as we sort, count and pack all kinds of requested items for kids at a bunch of different low-income schools in Los Angeles and Long Beach during our 7th Annual Back-to-School Drive & Community Dinner. The sorting will be followed by a delicious and fun community dinner. We need donors and volunteers. For more info, please contact on items we are collecting or to RSVP, please click HERE.
Join us for Big Sunday’s 3rd Annual Books n’ Brunch fall book collection. By special request, we’re collecting all kinds of new and gently used books for all kinds of grateful nonprofits. Help us sort and box the books, then stick around as we all enjoy a delicious and friendly brunch! For more info or to sign up to help, please click HERE.
Join us for our 7th Annual Spooky Sunday as we host a number of local nonprofits and their families for our Annual Halloween Bash!
This is one of our most fun events of the year and you do not want to miss it! The festivities will include a costume giveaway, a portrait studio, our very scary haunted house, trunk-or-treating, tons of arts & crafts, way too much candy and lots more. (Don’t forget to wear your costume!)

Each year we collect and pack big bags full of Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of people, including veterans, homeless families, women in domestic violence shelters, group homes, low-income families, at-risk children, food pantries, schools and more. This year will be even bigger! We need volunteers to donate food and pack up all the Thanksgiving goodies. To RSVP, please click HERE.
Each year people from all walks of life join us to eat, sing (with a live band!) and enjoy the holidays. As always, our guests of honor are the incredible kids from Ability First and the amazing folks from Sunset Hall. We’re also hosting other friends with struggles large and small.
Volunteers are needed to spread some holiday cheer to our invited guests. There will be singing (good singing not necessary — trust us) (and no, you don’t have to sing if you don’t want to). We’ll deck the halls and light a menorah, too. Of course, there will be loads of arts & crafts and delicious holiday treats. We’ll also be collecting toys for kids, winter coats for kids and adults and non-perishable food items for our End of the Month Club. To sign up today, click HERE!
We love working for (and with!) veterans. We’ll be hosting vets from all over town. Together, we’ll enjoy great games (including our 1st-Ever Trivia Night) and entertainment from our amazing friends, The New Directions Veterans’ Choir, who are back for a return performance! We’ll also be writing letters to military personnel on active duty. Then, of course, everyone’s invited for a big, memorable Big Sunday community dinner. It’s a great way to show the vets how much we care!
We are collecting comic books for our pals at Operation Gratitude to include in their care packages that are sent to service members deployed overseas. We’re also collecting unexpired, non-perishable food for the Downtown VA as part of April’s End of the Month Club.
RSVP today by clicking HERE.
Interested in sponsoring this great event? Awesome! Sponsorships are $5000, $2500 and $1000. Please contact adam@bigsunday.org for details.

On May 31 from 10 am – 5 pm, join us for our "A Month of Big Sundays" day-long open house, which will feature our biggest End of the Month Club ever. Help sort, pack and distribute all the food donated during the month and any other final donations. Feel free to help jump-start our beach towel collection for June. Volunteers can look forward to great food, good music, fantastic company and lots of ideas on how you can be involved in upcoming months! Food will be sorted in the morning and our nonprofit friends will pick up their items in the afternoon. Sign up for the May 31 End of the Month Club project here.
Each year we collect and pack bags full of Thanksgiving dinner for thousands of people, including vets; homeless families; women in domestic violence shelters; group homes; low income families with autistic children; food pantries; schools and more. This year will be even bigger! We need people to donate food, as well as pack everything up. And yes, everyone is invited to join together for community breakfast, too!
Join us for Big Sunday’s 3rd Annual Get-Ready-For-Summer Cookout & Movie Night! By special request, we’ll be collecting donations of beach items (towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.) for The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hollywood and Santa Clarita Valley, then enjoying a delicious cookout and a special screening of Monsters, Inc. with friends new and old! In classic Big Sunday fashion, everyone’s job is to meet at least one new person.
