Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar

We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.

laweekly1-daedelus_bygari_askewSCREENING & LIVE PERFORMANCE: 8 pm

Presented by Arts Brookfield, UnSilent Cinema pairs outdoor screenings of classic, silent films with contemporary scores, several of which are world premieres, performed live by their composers: electronic musicians DaedelusJimmy TamborelloCallie, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith as well as guitar masters Alvin Youngblood Hart and Marc Ribot. The film screenings with live performances are free to the public and part of Arts Brookfield’s mission to bring Brookfield’s public spaces to life through visual and performing arts.

A bridge from the early 20th century to today, UnSilent Cinema connects film masterpieces with contemporary music culture. The series grew out of the New York Guitar Festival’s Silent Films/Live Guitars series, which has commissioned outstanding musicians to compose and perform scores to accompany classic and poignant silent films since 2004.

Arts Brookfield has partnered with David Spelman, the NYGF’s founder, and LA-based concert producer Rum & Humble, to expand the artistic vision of the series, embracing a wider spectrum of musical genres and producing an annual event in Downtown Los Angeles.

Visit FIGat7th, DTLA’s premier shopping and dining destination, for this special, two-day event on September 29 & 30. Come early and experience the new outdoor drink service at the TASTE Food Hall Courtyard and the event bar on the plaza, along with a variety of great dinner options from all the eateries at FIGat7th.
