Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.

The Long Beach Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is proud to announce the 3rd Annual READY Long Beach Community Preparedness Expo. Please join the Long Beach Fire Department, the City of Long Beach and other partners as they come together and support this important community-wide event.
Why should you attend? Disasters know no boundaries…they are the great equalizer! Organizations, businesses, faith-based groups, neighborhoods, and residents must rally and support each other during these events. READY Long Beach creates an environment that builds these relationships and provides families the opportunity to enjoy a free, family-friendly, fun day while also learning how to take care of themselves at home and at work.
The expo will feature information booths, emergency preparedness demonstrations, emergency supplies for purchase, and will also include a kid’s fun zone, emergency food for purchase, and emergency response vehicle displays. After a dinner break from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., READY Long Beach will conclude with a free showing of the movie “San Andreas” starting at 6:00 p.m.
The event will include information regarding:
- How to build minimum supplies of food, water and other basic survival tools recommended by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);
- How and when to safely shut off gas and water lines;
- How to build a family evacuation and response plan; and
- How to engage your neighbors in disaster planning.
The Long Beach Fire Department invites the Long Beach community to attend the 2016 READY Long Beach Expo, your support will enable our City to take action now, before the disaster, to prepare our residents and assist them during response and recovery. It is about empowering Long Beach!
