Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Volunteers are needed setting up for gigantic yard sale. Mostly schlepping boxes and helping organize tables Wednesday and Thursday, Nov 4 & 5. Yard sale will be Friday, 9 am – 5 pm and Saturday, 9 am – 12 pm (11/6 &11/7). The money raised supports free school programs, including a free afterschool drop-in center computer lab and low-cost summer camps. No religious beliefs or affiliation required.

Does your wardrobe need a fall refresher? Join American Cancer Society at the Talbots in Pasadena for a fundraiser to benefitting ACS – all you have to do is shop and maybe bring a friend! Ten percent of all proceeds between 4-8 pm will be donated to ACS and if you RSVP to enida.acosta@cancer.org, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card! Catch the rain when it hits with a free rain barrel from West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin)! California has been in a statewide drought for five years, and likely a sixth. In response, West Basin is increasing public conservation and education by hosting no-cost rain barrel distribution events throughout the South Bay this fall season to qualified residents in the West Basin service area.

Join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and work alongside staff protecting important wildlife habitat by closing unauthorized trails! Tasks include trail maintenance, building fences, installing signage and more! No experience needed. This event is meeting at Portuguese Bend Reserve.
Please come prepared to work outdoors with sturdy closed-toed shoes, long pants, sun protection, a snack and water. Thank you for volunteering!

Join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy during their Outdoor Volunteer Day at Portuguese Bend Reserve. Open to all, no experience needed! They'll will be working on one of their many restoration sites to remove invasive weeds and plant/maintain native shrubs. Your work will help improve the land for people and wildlife alike!
This event will meet at the entrance of Portuguese Bend Reserve at the intersection of Crenshaw and Burrell Lane next to Del Cerro Park.

Please join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy for their Outdoor Volunteer Day from 9am to 12pm at Alta Vicente Reserve! They will be working to remove invasive weeds which degrade important wildlife habitat and replacing them with native plants!
Please meet them at the Alta Vicente trailhead next to St Paul's Lutheran Church at 31290 Palos Verdes Dr W, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Please do not park in the church parking lot. Park on the street. Extra parking can be found in Golden Cove Shopping Center.
The group will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. A reusable water bottle is recommended. Thank you for volunteering to conserve the Palos Verdes Peninsula!
