We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Tour de Summer Camps is a community cycling fundraiser, in which all proceeds will benefit scholarships for kids to attend Jewish summer camps. All across Simi Valley and beyond, riders will have the option to an 18-mile, 36-mile, 62-mile and 100-mile route. Since 2013, the annual event has raised nearly $1 million, and they need your help to ensure that same rate of success this year! Volunteer today! The League of Women Voters of Los Angeles is celebrating its 95th anniversary with an extraordinary celebration and fundraiser on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Pacific Design Center. The morning begins with a cocktail reception followed by a brief awards presentation and “living room” conversation with the honorees, moderated by award-winning actress Monica Horan Rosenthal of Everybody Loves Raymond. Our anniversary event concludes with a special screening of Focus Features’ new film SUFFRAGETTE, starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, and Meryl Streep. Director Sarah Gavron and screenwriter Abi Morgan will introduce the film and participate in a Q&A after the screening.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan grassroots volunteer organization, was born in 1920 when fearless women fought for and finally attained the right to vote. Originally designed to help 20 million women carry out their new responsibilities as voters and to nurture civic leaders, today the League continues to engage and empower diverse voices to participate in our democracy, defend and expand voting rights, and advocate for better laws and public policy. The League never supports or opposes any political party or candidate.
SUFFRAGETTE, directed by Sarah Gavron from a script written by Abi Morgan, is the first feature film to tell the story of the battle for women’s voting rights. Academy Award nominees Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter, and three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, lead the cast of the moving and powerful drama about the women who were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality in early 20th-century Britain. It is a film that will empower all who are striving for equal rights in our own day and age. SUFFRAGETTE, MPAA-rated “PG-13”, also stars Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw, Romola Garai, and Natalie Press.

Volunteers will help set-up and decorate, escort seniors, help manage lines, serve dinner, act as wait staff, hand out thank you gifts, etc. Volunteers will need to be able to be on their feet and enjoying interacting with others. Around 200 attendees are expected at this event and they'll really need some help to pull off this event! Participants must be high school age or above, please! C3 is a series of community/police dialogues funded by a Soros Foundation Open Society Grant awarded to the Los Angeles Women Police Officers Association (LAWPOA) in cooperation with Pepperdine University and the LAPD. The dialogues are designed to help LA community members and LAPD officers build trust and understand each other better. The curriculum includes facilitated conversation, conflict resolution training, and interactive activities. Our upcoming Community/Police Dialogue is geared towards community members and officers from the West Bureau, which includes Hollywood, Koreatown, the Mid-Wilshire area, and much of West LA.
Participants must commit to being present both days (9/25: 12-5pm
& 9/26: 10-5pm). Participants will be awarded a $25 gift card each day.
Participants must be 18 or over.
