We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

The League of Women Voters of Los Angeles is celebrating its 95th anniversary with an extraordinary celebration and fundraiser on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Pacific Design Center. The morning begins with a cocktail reception followed by a brief awards presentation and “living room” conversation with the honorees, moderated by award-winning actress Monica Horan Rosenthal of Everybody Loves Raymond. Our anniversary event concludes with a special screening of Focus Features’ new film SUFFRAGETTE, starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, and Meryl Streep. Director Sarah Gavron and screenwriter Abi Morgan will introduce the film and participate in a Q&A after the screening.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan grassroots volunteer organization, was born in 1920 when fearless women fought for and finally attained the right to vote. Originally designed to help 20 million women carry out their new responsibilities as voters and to nurture civic leaders, today the League continues to engage and empower diverse voices to participate in our democracy, defend and expand voting rights, and advocate for better laws and public policy. The League never supports or opposes any political party or candidate.
SUFFRAGETTE, directed by Sarah Gavron from a script written by Abi Morgan, is the first feature film to tell the story of the battle for women’s voting rights. Academy Award nominees Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter, and three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, lead the cast of the moving and powerful drama about the women who were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality in early 20th-century Britain. It is a film that will empower all who are striving for equal rights in our own day and age. SUFFRAGETTE, MPAA-rated “PG-13”, also stars Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw, Romola Garai, and Natalie Press.

Join TREE MUSKETEERS Tree Team and youth leaders on the second and fourth Saturday of the month to care for trees in El Segundo's urban forests!
Activities include watering, mulching, weeding, pruning and litter abatement. Tree Musketeers provides the tools and know-how, you just need to come ready to "dig in" to your community.

PATH’s mission is to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities. PATH does this by building affordable housing and providing supportive services throughout California. In the past four years, PATH has helped nearly 7,000 people move off the streets and into permanent homes.

Volunteers will help set-up and decorate, escort seniors, help manage lines, serve dinner, act as wait staff, hand out thank you gifts, etc. Volunteers will need to be able to be on their feet and enjoying interacting with others. Around 200 attendees are expected at this event and they'll really need some help to pull off this event! Participants must be high school age or above, please! The Renegade Summer Trail Run Series benefits WeROCK (We Run Orange County’s Kids), a non-profit organization that provides after-school intervention programs for the Middle and High School students of Orange County. By delivering education and proper training for the completion of a 26.2 mile marathon, We ROCK teaches our community’s teenagers the important life skills of goal setting, self-reliance, discipline and self-confidence. Join us the weekend of December 1 and 2, 2018 – RAIN OR SHINE!
The Giveaway is a single-day event that provides free, gently used clothing to more than 2,000 women, men, and children at the start of the holiday season.
We need 120 volunteers to help sort clothing, greet our guests, keep our giveaway tables freshly and fully stocked, and assist with event cleanup. Breakfast and lunch are provided for volunteers.
The Clothing Giveaway takes place at our headquarters in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles:

Parking restrictions in the area are eased for the event.
Volunteers must be at least 17 years-old. Community service credit/certificates will be given to all students.
