Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Does your wardrobe need a fall refresher? Join American Cancer Society at the Talbots in Pasadena for a fundraiser to benefitting ACS – all you have to do is shop and maybe bring a friend! Ten percent of all proceeds between 4-8 pm will be donated to ACS and if you RSVP to enida.acosta@cancer.org, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card! Top Native artists from across the country offer sculpture, pottery, beadwork, basketry, photography, paintings, jewelry, textiles, wooden carvings, mixedmedia works, and more.
Plus, enjoy a full weekend of performances, children’s activities, informative talks and demonstrations, films, and the annual short play festival from Native Voices, the Autry’s award-winning resident theatre company.

Just in time for holiday shopping, the Autry Store presents a show and sale of handmade pottery, rugs, and clothing. Master carver Jacobo Angeles Ojeda will showcase his intricate carving and painting techniques. His work will be available for purchase along with a diverse selection of Oaxacan pieces from other artists, including whimsical carvings and embroidered dresses, scarves, and shirts. Robert Angeles will present his handmade clothing alongside Zapotec rugs and Jorge Quintana's Mata Ortiz pottery.

This Thursday, April 27th between 6:00-9:00 pm, Create Now will be celebrated at the new Kendra Scott store at the Century City Westfield Mall.

The Renegade Summer Trail Run Series benefits WeROCK (We Run Orange County’s Kids), a non-profit organization that provides after-school intervention programs for the Middle and High School students of Orange County. By delivering education and proper training for the completion of a 26.2 mile marathon, We ROCK teaches our community’s teenagers the important life skills of goal setting, self-reliance, discipline and self-confidence. Each year, our Gala for the Children brings together APCH’s long-standing supporters as well as new friends to celebrate our youth and raise funds to support the organization’s critical work.
It is a fun and meaningful evening dedicated to understanding our mission, meeting our young people, enjoying APCH music and dance, and sharing the company of our Board of Directors and fellow investors in the lives of the youth and families we serve.
This year, we honor Johnny Lopez, Founding Partner of Platinum Equity, with the Debrah Constance Humanitarian Award, and Damon Wolf, President of Worldwide Marketing for Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, with the Children’s Inspiration Award.
The night will begin with a cocktail party and extensive silent auction that includes fantastic, once in a lifetime experiences, trips, rare wines, sports tickets, artwork, jewelry, and more.
Once seated, guests are treated to stories from our APCH youth and families, dance and music from our youth (and sometimes surprise guests like Stevie Wonder or Gavin Rossdale), and heartfelt remarks from our Board Chair, Executive Director and our annual honorees.
