Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.
If you have questions about our calendar, or would like to add a listing, please contact calendar@bigsunday.org or submit your event/opportunity via the button below.

Big Sunday wants to ensure no one is forgotten on Valentine’s Day, so we’re gathering volunteers to make cards and gift bags for thousands of shut-ins and people who are ailing or facing a tough time. Participants will also enjoy a terrific community dinner and, a raucous game of bingo. All ages are welcome!
Big Sunday is also collecting unexpired, non-perishable food items for our friends at Alexandria House, a non-profit transitional residence and house of hospitality providing safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to permanent housing.
We are collecting pasta and sauce, but cleaning out your cupboards is great. Soups, canned meats, cereal, beans, jelly and peanut butter are always winners too.
BTW: Would you or your group be interested in being a sponsor of this event?
(Sponsorships start at $1000 and allow us to keep all our programs free!) Contact adam@bigsunday.org.
For more info on the event or to RSVP, please click HERE.
Each Monday morning at 10 am, we host a fun, hands-on service project at Big Sunday headquarters called MM@10 (Monday Mornings at 10). It’s a great way for folks of all ages to get together to help others. Join us for all the fun!
To RSVP for upcoming MM@10 events, please contact beenish@bigsunday.org. Click HERE for MM@10’s full schedule.
Become a volunteer for Meals on Wheels West (MOW) Los Angeles and help deliver meals between 10:15 am and 12:30 pm any Monday – Friday! Student volunteers are always welcome at MOW. Younger students can help with various tasks in MOW’s office or be paired with one of their regular drivers or with a parent to help deliver food to clients. High school and college students who already are licensed drivers are especially appreciated as reinforcements to MOW’s regular corps of volunteers. MOW is happy to record your community service hours and send that information to your school.
NOTE: This is an ONGOING weekly volunteer opportunity!
At TREE MUSKETEERS kids are boss, but adult volunteers looking to support youth leaders can put their "Back Seat Driving" skills into action by joining the Adult Partner Team! This is also a great opportunity for you to volunteer with your child whether they are a general volunteer or Youth Planting Supervisor. Pick your schedule as you go, but folks who can help at Tree Musketeer's annual tree planting event, Arbor Day Celebration in March, are especially needed.
Register for the orientation through Tree Musketeer's website, email Volunteers@TreeMusketeers.org or call 310-322-0263 for more info.

Friends of the Family (FOF) is seeking volunteers for their LA2050-funded Man2Man Project. Are you an adult male over 30 who would like to have a positive impact on a young man’s life as he strives to step up to fatherhood? Ideal volunteers would reside in the LA Metro area, be fathers themselves (not mandatory), be well established in their lives and careers, and be able to commit to 6 – 8 hours per month during 2017 to mentor a participant in FOF’s Young Dads program. All activities and mentor coaching will be coordinated by the agency. The M2M Program develops vibrant communities by supporting two generations, young fathers and their children, through quality mentoring relationships and by building social networks of adults committed to making life better for future generations. If you have wisdom to share and support to provide, please contact FOF. For more information, please contact Brenda Hillhouse, Director of Development, at 818-988-4430 or brenda@fofca.org.
