Big Sunday happily welcomes you to Our Really Big Community Calendar.
We try to include all kinds of volunteering and helping opportunities for all kinds of interests, talents, passions, and ages! As you’ll see, these include volunteering opportunities (one-time and long-term) as well as the chance to support a nonprofit by attending fundraising events. Plus, of course, we include all of Big Sunday’s homegrown events, too! Whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is someone out there who could use your help.

Want to learn about the LA Arboretum from one of their experts? Take part in walking and tram tours led by different staff experts. Each will provide in-depth information on some aspect of the Arboretum with topics ranging from unique trees to intriguing books.

Hundreds of girls throughout LA County train in eager anticipation of this day! YOU can join with GOTRLA as an Awesome Volunteer to make everyone feel like the winners that they are. Whether you help greet guests with a smile as they park, jazz up their style with face-painting, hand out water to the runners, or clean up after the race … just imagine the positive impact you will have as you spend your morning rooting for everyone to walk, run or skip their way to the finish line! Join them for a day of joy, health and confidence!

Chosen as one of the Most Incredible Themed Races, Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is a fun and festive way to kick off your holidays by helping others! Wear a holiday themed costume. Tie jingle bells to your shoelaces. Raise funds to help find a cure for arthritis, the nation's leading cause of disability. Run or walk a 5 kilometer route with your team members and celebrate the season by giving!
Each year people from all walks of life join us to eat, sing (with a live band) and enjoy the holidays. Special guests have included low-income seniors, kids with challenges, women and children from a domestic violence shelter, veterans and others who needed a little extra TLC during the holidays. Each month Big Sunday collects at least 600 items in our popular monthly food drive to help hungry and grateful people. Sorting is December 16 from 10 -11 am. Starting with a warm up stroll, Candyce Columbus, RYT, provides a gentle, stimulating and rejuvenating all-levels traditional hatha yoga practice, enhanced by the idyllic Arboretum. Bring a blanket or towel, your yoga mat and water to sip.
Please meet PROMPTLY 15 minutes before the class in front of Main Entrance, outside of the Membership and programs office.

Yoga practice has been an integral part of Candyce’s life and well-being for more than 20 years. Since 2009 she has been sharing the knowledge passed on to her from many wonderful teachers. Regardless of fitness or flexibility she believes everyone can benefit from yoga. Her classes are well-balanced, varied, informative and enjoyable. She is dedicated to her students and to helping them lead active, healthy lives.
