Don’t miss CAP UCLA’s presentation of Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra on Nov. 7 at Royce Hall.
Son of pioneering Latin jazz musician, arranger and bandleader Chico, Grammy-Award winning Arturo O’Farrill is a pianist and composer based in New York City. His 17-piece big band is the gold standard for Afro-Latin jazz music. The band is hot on the heels of their newly-released album Cuba: The Conversation Continues which was recorded in Havana. The record captures the ongoing musical dialog of "an imaginary conversation between Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo" and continues to repair the rift between the United States and Cuba with the power of this universal music. Don’t miss a rare L.A. appearance in legendary Royce Hall! (UCLA student discounts are available.)
